When the temperature is over 100 for weeks at a time, here is a list of things you can do inside that are close to Uptown Dallas.

Live music -
You can see Kristy Kruger perform at the All Good Cafe in Downtown Dallas on Friday July 22 at 9pm.  She recently released Songs from a Dead Man’s Couch and was chosen as the best female singer by the Dallas Observer.  Her most recent effort received an Independent Music Award as the Americana album of the year.  The All Good Cafe is located at 2934 Main Street.

Live theater -
Check out Theater Too (in the basement of Theater Three) in Uptown for their latest performance “See What I Want to See”. It plays Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm with a matinee at 2:30. It is a musical interpretation of three stories written by Ryunosuke Akutagawa and is set in modern-day Manhattan. The story includes murder, love, passion and more. The theater is located at 2800 Routh Street.

“The Wiz” is playing at the Wyly Theater in the Arts District. It is the fun boogie woogie version of Dorothy and the yellow brick road. It’s put on by the Dallas Theater Center and Dallas Black Dance Theatre. Shows are nightly at 8pm . The theater itself is unique and beautiful. It’s located at 2400 Flora Street, just walking distance from a bunch of restaurants including my favorite,  Screen Door, which serves classic southern food with a twist.

Museum attractions -
Catch an exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art called “Concentrations 54″. It features the works of living contemporary artists whose work is not at the beginning nor the end of their careers, but at that exciting period of transition in between the two. Some of the artists featured are Matt Connors and Fergus Feehily. The museum is located at the southern end of the trolley path at 1717 N. Harwood.

Also don’t miss this once in a life time opportunity to visit the museum after dark.  This month, the Dallas Museum is hosting 9×9, a nine-day event full of activities lasting until 9 p.m.

Adults only -
The Library Bar in the Warwick Hotel is featuring National Ice Cream Month by mixing the ice cream with the hard stuff. Try a mint chocolate chip-tini and vanilla Russian. The Library is at 3015 Oak Lawn Ave.
